2-Day Cherry Blossom Drive in the Countryside #1

In East Nara Nabari, you can enjoy sakura or cherry blossoms from late March through late April depending on the species and habitats. Among those cherry trees, I will introduce my favorite ones that bloom around early April, as well as other sightseeing spots. Make sure you come here by car to enjoy cherry blossoms in the countryside. You can rent a car at an airport, in major cities in Kansai, or near Nabari Station.

Uedaya / 上田屋

A diner and souvenir shop near Akame 48 Waterfalls trailhead. Eat well before you go on a 3-hour hike. They have udon and soba noodles, as well as kusa-mochi, rice cake with mugwort and sweet red bean paste. The kusa-mochi are so good that you might want to buy them to go to eat during the hike.

Akame 48 Waterfalls & Enju-in

Akame 48 Waterfalls & Enju-in

Refresh yourself at one of the best-known hiking trails in Kansai, surrounded by green trees and streaming waterfalls. Although this spot is more popular for the autumn foliage, you will see some mountain cherry trees with pink flowers in spring. There is also a 350-year-old weeping cherry tree at Enju-in Temple near the trailhead. The tree survived severe weather conditions and still blooms from late March to early April.

Located at Muro Mountain, Muro-ji is one of the most visited temples in the East Nara Nabari area.

100 Someiyoshino cherry trees 
If you have extra time, it's a good idea to visit a cherry blossom spot along a river. Lanterns illuminate 100 cherry trees during the peak season.
