Visit Murou Village’s Art Forest and reawaken your imagination! The Murou Art Forest is a park with art installations designed to play with earth, air and light. A good spot for families or anyone seeking a rejuvenation of the spirit- don’t forget your picnic lunch and sunscreen!

Murou Art Forest is a collection of art installations in Murou Village, Uda City. The area was originally flattened for landslide prevention, and then Murou sculptor Inoue Fukichi suggested the area should be made into an art park in order to combat depopulation of the village. The installations were designed by Israeli artist Dani Karavan (born 1930), yet they have a distinctly “Japanese” feeling, a feeling of harmony with human creation and nature. Park planning began in 1998, and it finally opened on March 31st, 2006. The park is approximately 700 meters long and includes several installations. After experiencing the installations, guests may return to the entrance via a forested trail. The Visitor’s Center has tables, and picnics are also allowed. Children younger than high school students may enter for free, making this a kid-friendly destination. Please note that there is no food available on-site, but you are welcome to bring your own.
