On October 20th-21st, a retro alley within the historic townscape of Uda-Matsuyama will be decorated with colorful dahlia flowers.
Uda is one of Japan’s biggest producers of dahlia flower bulbs, and flowers used in this project are from farmers’ blossom-thinning to make bulbs bigger. Locals started to use these flowers to revitalize the community, and this year marks its 10thanniversary.
Don’t miss this special scenery! Night illumination will be also worth seeing. If you would like to join the event as a volunteer, you can help place flowers on Saturday morning (starting 9:30 a.m.), and also remove them on Sunday afternoon (starting 4:00 p.m.). You can take these flowers home at the end of the event.
Venue: Honzen Alley in Uda-Matsuyama
Access: From Kintetsu Haibara Station, take a bus bound for ‘Ouda (大宇陀)’. Get off at the final stop ‘Ouda (大宇陀)’ and walk for 10 minutes.
