Winter Candle Night at Akame 48 Waterfalls

Last Updated on April 17, 2019

The Candle Night at Akame 48 Falls signifies the beginning of the holiday season, especially for the locals. Every year, on a winter night in December, some of the waterfalls at Akame are lit up with hundreds of candles. Come before the sunset and join us to light the candles (of course, you can come after the sunset just to see the illuminated falls).

Sun, December 23rd, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

To light the candles, come to the venue by 4:30 pm.

Venue: Reija Square near Raija Falls (霊蛇滝), a 3-minute walk from the entrance, Japan Giant Salamander Center
Access: Drive to the venue (see the map below), as there is no bus running back to the train station at night
Entrance fee: 400 yen/adult, 200 yen/child, free of charge/local resident with a valid ID
